Celebrating International Women's Day

International Women's Day is celebrated on the 8th March every year. It is a global day which celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

To celebrate IWD this year we worked with three incredible ladies, each with their own story to tell. Firstly; Bianca Foley, podcast host of Sustainably Influenced; secondly, Kaz Foncette, a 2 time breast cancer survivor, and lastly, Grace Mandeville, actor and TV presenter born with an a-foreshortened right arm.

Introducing Bianca Foley:

Bianca is a London-based mid sized fashion influencer. Her focus is on all things sustainable by falling in love with pieces you already own. As well as this, she hosts a podcast, called Sustainably Influenced, with Charlotte Williams, where they discuss what it really means to be sustainable in our daily lives. She has been blogging for almost a decade, and is excited about the changes we are seeing in the industry when it comes to shopping and living sustainably. She aims to influence everyone she knows to make changes, big and small, because even the smallest act can make a difference to the planet.

Introducing Kaz Foncette:

Kaz Foncette is a 2 time cancer beating 'thriver'. As a Turkish-Cyrpiot woman, she felt completely unlike herself when she lost her hair through chemotherapy. She decided that fashion, make up and accessories where the key to finding herself again. After her diagnosis and treatment, Kaz founded Wigs for Heroes, a charity that aims to provide people undergoing cancer treatment with the financial help for quality wigs, scarves and hats.

Introducing Grace Mandeville:

Grace is an actress, vlogger, model, TV presenter and internet personality, with a real competitive streak and an inspiring 'can-do' attitude. She was born with a foreshortened right arm, but this hasn't stopped her. She has taken part in numerous disability activism events and been vocal about the portrayal of people with disabilities being present in the media. As well as this, she is co-founder of COLLUSION; a brand for the coming age, shaped by, and for, an audience who demand something different from fashion. Its ethos centres around being as inclusive, collaborative and experimental as possible.

After the shoot, we sat down together to discuss all things women. We discussed how the women in our family are a huge source of inspiration and strength, how we should put our all into everything we do and why there is still so much more we can do to improve the lives of women all over the globe.
