Jordan has created his blog to be a two way street, encouraging everyone to discover their own style rather than follow trends. Here we catch up with him on his personal style and how he wears his Yogis. Jordan wears Yogi for Albam Lawson Suede Moccasin in White throughout with photos by Jake Millers

Describe your personal style...

This is something that I get asked quite a lot and I have refined it down to: simple, functional, well-made and considered. I place importance on quality fabrics that are adaptable for multiple environments, small details that only appear upon closer inspection and playing with shape and structure.

What was the first item of clothing you ever bought for yourself?

Once I knew what I enjoyed when I was younger I remember getting a lot of satisfaction of buying something and then wearing it at college the very next day. It wasn’t the first thing, but when I started taking a more vested interest in menswear I remember buying a pair of Oliver Spencer trousers years ago and they are still in my wardrobe today. There’s something rewarding about knowing I still have them.

Any faux-pas you'd rather forget...?

A very extreme haircut that resembles an unkept hedge. It definitely did not age well looking back at old photos and still haunts me on my license photo.

Tell us about the oldest item in your wardrobe:

Good question. I think there is quite a few things in my current wardrobe that will be there for years and decades to come. I believe my oldest item is a bowling bag that got passed down to me by my grandad. He used to be a keen bowler and it’s nice knowing that the bag is still being used all these years later.

What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought, clothing-wise?

I made this purchase last year in Oslo. I made my way into the Acne Archive store with the intention of buying a magazine and I came out with a beige overcoat. It is something I was looking to buy for some time as my current one at the time needed replacing. As soon as I tried it on I knew it was the one I wanted and it felt good investing money in something I had considered for a while and having the confidence to buy it.

How do you style your Yogi shoes?

Before this shoot I spent the evening before putting the outfits together. The first one came together quite nicely as I wanted to wear my new Albam zip-up to match up with the shoes. I think the subtle balance of the leather zip using the same leather as the shoe laces made for a nice touch. I then chose to wear a pair of navy pleated trousers to add shape and focus on the shoe.

My second look is equally as relaxed wearing some slightly lighter fabrics. The stripped back military jacket and khaki trousers worked so well.

What do your Yogi shoes say about you?

They look and feel like the right shoe to wear during the warmer months. I feel summer dressing is slightly more difficult as there’s essentially less to wear. This pair of Yogis in suede adds some nice talking points and will work well. I think it goes back to my appreciation for small details and owning a wardrobe that is made well.

Yogi was born in the 90s, what were you doing, what were you wearing and what were you listening to back in the day?

I only had five years in the 90s so I do not think I was old enough to enjoy it properly. Through the rewards of my dad filming everything, I know I was wearing multi-coloured dungarees on a regular basis. It’s not a choice I would make today! The background music to my childhood was a lot of Motown and northern soul.

This season you'll be wearing...

A lot of linen and seersucker. Two very clever fabrics to be wearing when the weather is a little warmer than the norm. I have just got a new pair of Oliver Spencer seersucker trousers that drop very straight and I feel they will get a lot of wear.

Who are your style heroes?

There is not one person who I look up to, but a collection of peers and people I follow on Instagram. I think ‘hero’ is probably not the right word for it, but I definitely take inspiration from my community and people like Sangiev Sriskumar, Scott Fraser Simpson and Richard Biedul for their distinct style.

What fragrance do you wear?

This summer I shall be wearing Sundazed by Byredo. It’s a new one from them and honestly it smells incredible.

Which is the best dressed nation?

Fun question! If we are thinking across all ages then perhaps the Italians. I just think style is inherently tied into their culture. There’s such a loucheness to how they dress. It’s not over- considered or precious, but thrown on and naturally confident.

What can we expect to see for summer?

Well we’re in June and summer is showing no signs of showing up. It’s been such an up and down year for weather, so my wardrobe is a combination of all seasons. I don’t plan to be doing much travelling and instead plan to shift my focus onto writing more for my blog. Let’s hope we see some sunshine soon!
