How To: Dress For A Summer Wedding - A Men's Style Guide
Summer season is coming, and thus is the constant deliberation over what to wear. Thanks to the rise of destination weddings, as well as the ongoing evolution of the suit, men are equipped with a vast array of options to stand out as a guest.
Long gone are the days where a top hat and tails are the required dress code, many modern couple choose not to even have one! However, this can be quite confusing when deciding on your outfit. Here at Yogi Footwear, we have come up with a list of things to consider when deciding which outfit to go for.
1. Respect the invitation
This is one of the most important areas to cover when decided what to wear. It's not just a pretty piece of paper - if there's a dress code, it'll be stated on there. If you get this wrong, then you could end up being over or underdress, so save yourself the embarrassment and make sure you double check!
2. Review the venue
The next thing to consider when choosing your outfit, is to consider where it is taking place. Whether it's a beach do in the Bahamas or somewhere in the countryside in England, you'll need to think about what kind of terrain you'll be walking on, suede doesn't go well with wet grass, and shoes may even be optional if there's sand around!
3. Bear the climate in mind
Yes this may be an obvious one, but it makes all the difference! You don't want to be wearing thick fabrics in the tropical sunshine! Instead, focus on breathable fabrics, like linen and cotton, that will keep you cool and sweat at bay. If you're worried about changing weather conditions on the day then bring a light jumper to layer up.
4. When in doubt - dress up
It is always better to be overdressed rather than underdressed. One of the advantages of a full suit and tie, is that if you feel slightly too smart, you can take off your jacket and tie and unbutton your collar. Just remember, the bride and groom wont hold it against you for being too dressed up, rather than the opposite end of the scale.
