Fathers Day 2022 One Year On...

To celebrate Father’s Day, we’re catching up with the Yogi dads one year on! Whether you’re a dad, a future dad, uncle, grandad, friend, or a mentor to others, Father’s Day is all about celebrating the special men in our life’s and remembering those who are no longer with us.

As their babies become toddlers, we thought it would be a great idea to see how the dads are celebrating this year’s Father’s Day and catch up on all things Yogi…

What’s one of the biggest things that have changed for you being a dad throughout the last year?

Now he’s mobile, keeping up with Otis is such a workout. He’s into everything and you can’t turn your back for a second!

How did you find todays shoot?

We’re pro’s now after last year! – Today was great, Otis really enjoyed the props and it was nice to take him over to the office to meet everyone.

What do your days consist of being a working dad?

In a ‘normal’ day I’m usually up around 6am, maybe a little earlier depending on how loudly Otis shouts. We always spend around half an hour in the morning watching something fun on the iPad whilst he has his morning milk. It was Shrek for ages, but he’s massively into En Canto right now. I get ready and aim to be out of the house for about 7:15. I’m privileged to work in a great environment, at our Huddersfield office as part of the creative team, along with some hugely talented individuals. I leave the office just after 5 o’clock each day and try to get home to get 10 minutes with Otis before he goes to bed. The traffic gods aren’t always the kindest.

What Yogi’s have you chosen for today’s shoot and why?

I’ve gone for the Finn iii that features on the new EVA outsole for the very first time. They’re dead comfy, lightweight and feel a little more summery, in my opinion.  I’ve also tried out the Willard with the negative heel. It’s the first time I’ve tried the negative heel and I’m here for it! Apparently, they’re good for posture etc, but they look good, so… win win.

What has been one memorable moment throughout the past year with your baby?

There’s been so many, first words, lots of laughs, but I think our first family holiday stands out for me. We only went to Cornwall, but it was pretty special. Spending loads of time on the beach and in the sea. On an evening we’d just find a spot outside a local pub and all the locals cooing over him.

How do you balance work and ‘dad life’?

We don’t get to spend much time as a family throughout the week, so we really look forward to our weekends and holidays. It’s important to make sure that the time we have together is quality time.

What are your plans for Father’s Day 2022?

I’m not too sure, I’m leaving it to ‘them’ (mainly my wife Kate) to hatch a plan. Hopefully the weather will hold out and we can spend some time outside!

What’s one of the biggest things that have changed for you being a dad throughout the last year?

A lot has changed over the last year, I think the biggest thing is the fact that he’s now up and about walking and running everywhere like a mad man. Crazy how much he’s changed over the course of a year, he’s very much a little boy now.

What does being a dad mean to you?

It means a lot to me, I understand he’s totally reliant on me to provide for him, it’s made me finally grow up (to a certain degree) and made me become less selfish as a person.

What do your days consist of being a working dad?

I’m quite lucky on this, I leave for work before Stanley usually wakes up so it’s all on my other half to get him up dressed, fed and take him to nursery. By the time I get home he’s pretty much ready for bed so only get 45 minutes with him before bath and bed. Weekends are therefore important to me.

What Yogi’s have you chosen for today’s shoot and why?

I have chosen the Caden centre seam – this is my go-to Yogi silhouette, I already have a few pairs in suede and nubuck so decided to mix it up with a full leather option.

How do you style your Yogis?

With salvage denim and an over shirt/smock usually like a BETEC Liam Gallagher.

What has been one memorable moment throughout the past year with your baby?

Taking him to the Deep in Hull as he’s obsessed with sharks, he absolutely loved it!

How do you balance work and ‘dad life’?

With difficulty, I hardly see him Monday – Friday so weekends are important.

Do you have any Father’s Day traditions in your family?

Nope – haven’t got a relationship with my Dad so it’s never been a thing.

What does being a dad mean to you?

Being their no matter what, being dependable.

What’s one of the biggest things that have changed for you being a dad throughout the last year?

My priorities have changed, so bath time takes over from shave time, so there have been a few times where I’m in desperate need for a shave.

How did you find todays shoot?

Great fun, lovely to have my girls here at our workplace.

What do your days consist of being a working dad?

Outside of my professional life, my family time is collectively making Luna giggle along with Romy. Plus, lots of DIY and child proofing projects.

What Yogi’s have you chosen for today’s shoot and why?

Finn Crepe, super comfortable and a great summer look in the senape colourway

How do you style your Yogis?

Usually with a pair of jeans and a comfortable tee or sweater.

What has been one memorable moment throughout the past year with your baby?

Zoo time, watching her feed the animals and giggling, it just the best seeing her reactions and expressions.

How do you balance work and ‘dad life’?

Prioritise, keeping notes and sticking to deadlines. Making sure to have a switch off period, my drive home allows me to put the day’s work thoughts to bed, and likewise driving in to work to prepare my mind.

What are your plans for Father’s Day 2022?

Unfortunately, I have to leave first thing for a work trip, so I will be celebrating the day before.

Do you have any Father’s Day traditions in your family?

Not until Luna, I was very much from a family where we appreciate each other in the everyday rather than needing a specific event.

We hope you have a great Father’s Day however your celebrating!
